Two Genealogies

Author: Richard Graham

As a Christian, you have two genealogies—one biological and one spiritual.

For a very interesting article on your biological one, see the ‘ghost in your DNA’ on genealogyexplained.com .  You have literally hundreds of thousands of ancestors, each of them an amazing story of decisions made, and a life lived, that eventually led to you.

But what about your spiritual genealogy? That begins with the person(s) who led you to faith in Jesus. Who led them to faith in Jesus? And who led those people to faith in Jesus? And so on back. These were people who cared enough to share the gospel with their circle of influence, down to you.

That line stretches all the way back to Adam. All the people who believed the gospel promise, were saved, and who shared the gospel promise with the next people in their circle of influence, in your spiritual genealogy, all the way down to you.

Hopefully, you and our spouse had children, and hopefully again, they will have children, so that your line continues. But what about that spiritual line? Are you sharing the gospel with your circle of influence? Your relatives, friends, associates, neighbors, strangers around you? Share the gospel! Don’t let it stop with you!

This is not hard. A tract, a gospel of John, your brag on what God has done for you, Share Jesus Without Fear on your phone, Way of the Master method, et al.  The only way you can lose a lost person is if no one shares the gospel with them.  Share the gospel!
